Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Cruella Review

I used to be a nude and pink lipgloss type of gal until Rihanna's Heaux changed my mind about the whole thing. That was years ago and dozens of wine, brown and plum lippies later I am now road-testing this cult classic shade from Nars. Is it worth the hype? Read on to find out!

The application of a lipstick combined with the convenience of a pencil in a jumbo crayon design. Lips are instantly saturated with rich pigments and a velvety matte finish. The long lasting, non-drying formula is enriched with emollients for a creamy texture, while a combination of unique silicones ensures long-lasting, seamless color for hours. Use for lining, all-over lip color, or pairing with another lip product.

My Review
Nothing beats a gorgeous red lippie when you want to make a bold statement. Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella has become a cult classic among the dozens of reds out in the market today and for a very good reason. Nars' Lead Trainer Jason Hoffman describes Cruella as a Red that works on every skin tone and I can definitely attest to this claim. It is such a rich and balanced red hue and instantly fell in-love-at-first-swatch when I tried this at the Nars counter. The formulation is creamy, pigmented and long-lasting. Like most matte lip products out there, you will need to prep and moisturize your lips thoroughly since this will highlight dry patches and lines like a mofo.

Is it worth the P1450 pricetag? Yes although it pains me to waste so much product whenever I need to sharpen it. It would've been better if they modify it to a twist up type of crayon to avoid so much waste.

If you think red lippies don't look good on you, Cruella might definitely make you think twice.

Take care! xx
